August + The Field in Bloom
A Somatic Reflection for the Turning Season
August arrives like a hush after the swell — still bright, still open, but tinged with something new.
This is the season of quiet sorting. Of soft decisions.
Of gathering what has grown — and letting what’s finished fall.
This month, we practice presence without pressure.
We gather not to produce, but to listen.
Begin Here
Find a position where your spine can lengthen and your breath can deepen.
Sit or lie down. Let your hands rest where they land.
Without trying to change anything, notice:
What is beginning to shift inside you?
What feels like it wants to stay?
What feels like it’s slowly fading?
Pause here. Let awareness gather.
Move Intentionally
Begin to move with purpose, but no rush.
Try these options:
Reach your arms out, then draw them slowly back in
Circle your wrists and ankles like you’re stirring something inside
Place your hands on your chest, then your belly. Breathe there.
Let your movement mirror the act of gathering.
What are you bringing inward?
Rest + Integrate
Lie down again, or return to stillness in your seat.
Feel the ground beneath you.
Ask gently:
What in me is ready to come with me into the next season?
What have I outgrown, even if I’m not ready to release it yet?
No need to answer. Let the questions sit beside you.
If You’d Like to Reflect
You might explore these prompts with paper or simply in thought:
What parts of me feel ready to gather, organize, or focus?
What small thing have I grown this summer—internally or otherwise?
Where in my life do I feel a quiet readiness?
Let your noticing be enough.
A Closing Blessing
May you gather gently.
May you organize without force.
May you meet the coming season with rooted softness, carrying only what still feels alive in your hands.
